If You want to purchase vintage footwear online THAT WILL FIT , you will have to measure your feet. Find a piece of cardboard (perhaps an old piece of a box) stand on it and have someone TRACE your right foot. Then measure LENGTH=heel to toe and WIDTH= across the sole at widest point straight across. Write these measurements on the cardboard. Since You have Your own assorted footwear in your closet with different toes (Round toes, roper toes, pointed toes, Square Toes, measure footwear (heel to toe) on the outside with different toes and write it on the cardboard trace (in a different color ink) near your measurement for your bare foot along with word “Boot or Shoe”. Now all you have to do is check the “type of toes” of what you want to buy and get the measurement from your seller.
Your "needed" length and width will lie somewhere in between your naked foot measurement and your boot/shoe measurements. Different heel heights and different shaped Toes will alter your length. Unless the Heels (up to 5/8” tall) are fairly FLAT….YOU CANNOT measure length of HEELed footwear by placing the boot against the wall OR by measuring the bottom of the boot. You must measure the boot by following the side of the boot WHERE the upper leather meets the outsole. (see pic) Always consider the shape of the toe when buying vintage boots. The more pointed the toe, the LONGER the boots need to be to fit your size.
We do not measure inside footbeds unless it has removable inserts. Inner foot measurements can be difficult to take because hands don’t fit to the toe & cannot be guaranteed accurate.
If there is any major defects/accolades on items i sell, i detail that in my description. READ IT! If Boots are steel toed/safety, I usually include it in the title or at least..in the description.
